There was an issue with the server maintenance this morning that will require the servers to be brought down again at 1:00pm EST (18:00 GMT). In addition, character transfers from the archived servers will be unavailable until further notice.

At this time we anticipate that the servers will be back online no later than 3:00 pm EST (20:00 GMT).

Thank you for your patience. Please be sure to check the Herald for updates regarding this downtime.

Encore une maintenance aujourd'hui (comme hier et l'avant veille) retour prévu a 20h00 GMT soit 21h. :cry:

Ça risque de continuer tous les soirs tant qu'ils n'ont pas trouvé le problème :o

As most of you are aware, yesterday we had maintenance downtime. During this downtime we updated our server hardware. After the game was brought back online, it was discovered that large chunks of data were missing.

Servers were brought down a second time, in order to reapply server data. This resulted in a small roll-back for characters that were played in the time between the two downtimes (a window of about 6 hours).

Since the hardware change, another issue has been discovered, which causes RvR zones to crash periodically – something many of you have most likely experienced by now. This is being caused by Against All Odds (AAO). There are a few different butterflies flapping their wings here to be able to pinpoint exactly why AAO is suddenly creating a server overload, of sorts, but it most definitely is the culprit.

There are two ways we can attempt to fix this issue:
a) try a content update, to modify the time between recalculations.
b) try a code update, to modify how the calculations are performed on the server.

We are going to try ‘a’ first, which will require no down time. Once I push up the new information, the only thing that it may require is for players to exit and reenter whatever RvR lake they are in, but most likely it will be invisible (save for any active AAO buff to disappear for a few moments, then come back again), and won’t even require that.

If zones continue to crash, we will have to bring servers offline again in order to implement the code fix. I’m hoping modifying the content-controlled recalculation will be enough to ease the pressure causing this problem.

Thank you for your understanding while we work on these issues.

UPDATE: Zones continue to crash on Badlands and Karak-Norn after our Content-Update deployment last night. We have decided to move forward with the more invasive Code-Update option.

All live servers will come down today at 1PM EST/6PM GMT for us to push the code update.

UPDATE:

We believe we've identified the issue. On this past Monday, we migrated Warhammer to cloud servers. That move is what started all the issues we've been encountering this week. While the specs of the new cloud servers are nearly identical to what we WAR was running on before, there is a rather large chunk of system memory which is set aside, and devoted to cloud processes. The impact this would have on game performance was drastically underestimated. The biggest culprit (though, not the only issue) is still AAO, whose resource demands expand exponentially with each player affected. Despite our attempts at lowering the resource demands of AAO (by both staggering the recalculations through the content update I made, and then capping the recalculation calls per-frame through the code update) it hasn’t been enough to fit it within the new memory limitations.

What happens now...

We've added another server to our cloud cluster. The existing ones will use this extra server as a shared resource to assist with process demands. Servers will have to be taken offline once more in order to set everything up, and we will be doing that as soon as possible in order to make sure things are stable for the weekend (looks like we'll be starting this at 10:30EST/3:30GMT). I am working on a little mea culpa bundle to give to you all as a way of thanking you for your patience while we adjust to this new server environment. It hasn't been easy, and I really appreciate everyone's willingness to help out.

Servers will be coming back online within the next 15 minutes.

For the next week, the first time you log in you will be given the following:
* A reapplication of Butcher's Blessing
* Five vials of Burning Elixir
* One Scroll of Binding - Bloodletter
* One Captain's Chronometer
* One Steamtank Whistle

Once again, these will be available to collect (automatically through your login process) until March 1st.

Thanks again for being so patient. I know this was a frustrating week; hopefully we can take all that frustration out on the battlefield this weekend! WAAAGH!! :D

le problème est résolu :

Arrêt des serveurs sur 3 jours => 6H => version 1.4.4 => c'est plutôt bon qu'ils se préoccupent de nous ;)

a+

Server Maintenance - 02/26
Posted by Tim Chappell | 2013 Feb 25 22:53 -0500 GMT
We will be bringing the servers offline tomorrow, Tuesday February 26th, at 9:00 am EST (15:00 CET) for essential maintenance.

At this time we anticipate that the servers will be back online no later than 11:00 am EST (17:00 CET).

Please be sure to check the Herald for updates regarding this downtime.

Dark , j'ai peur que tu sois un peu optimiste : Ils ont juste essayé d’échapper au remplacement de serveurs vieillissants. :help:

Par contre on va avoir 10 jours gratits en compensation a priori :

UPDATE: This was a very difficult weekend. The additional server we added on Friday did not relieve the issues, as we had expected it to. Zones continued to crash, and Karak-Norn lag spikes grew. As Norn players began playing on Badlands, due to the lag spikes on Norn, lag increased on Badlands and zones began crashing faster.

Sunday afternoon (local time), after having combed through code and hardware specs for days, our engineers were able to identify the root of the problem causing the zone crashes; I don’t know all the details, but it had something to do with mismatched priority queues. The lag spikes on Karak-Norn had to do with our European cluster hardware being misrepresented, so their specs were worse than what we were being told they were. With this newfound knowledge, we were able to get a new build, and new configurations, pushed to live servers. Based on all reports, as of this time, servers have returned to a stable state.

I apologize for the servers going down yesterday without any in-game warnings. That was my fault; I had Tim post a notice on the herald, and gave the go-ahead for servers to go down for the deployment, without making arrangements for in-game warnings first.

I’m currently working to get the following compensation package in place for people:
* 10-Days of game time applied to subscribed accounts
* 1 Golden Writ available to subscribed characters
* 100% XP/RP boost for 7 days for all characters
* A stack of 10 Lesser Bone Wards available for all characters
* A special title unlock for anyone who attempted to play between the 18th and the 24th

("available to..." means these items will given to characters upon their first login after the compensation package is released, but only before the compensation period ends. Characters that are logged in after the compensation period ends will not receive these rewards.)

The Compensation Period has not yet been determined, because we're working with the account center and CSRs to make sure we have everything covered correctly. I will make sure to have something posted here in the forums, and on the Herald, letting you know what the Compensation Period date range will be.

If you are unfamiliar with the Golden Writ, Gaarawar created a Guide to Golden Writs back in May 2010 which you might find helpful.

The Lesser Bone Ward acts the same as Bone Ward, except it is consumed when it is used. You can slot the entire stack in one of your pockets, and then drag it to your hotbar to activate. Each activation will consume one of the Lesser Bone Wards, and the cooldown is the same (though not shared) as the regular Bone Ward, i.e., 60 minutes. The Lesser Bone Ward cannot be moved to your bank, and are BoP.

Thank you for your ongoing understanding and patience through this transition process.

C'est bien le lag sur karak Norn qu'ils ont voulu réduire, mais vu que rien ni fait les joueurs migrent sur Badlands et on se tape du lag aussi en plus des crashs... c'est magnifique !
